Guidelines for the Losey Endowment Committee Grant Process
We are excited to introduce our Losey Endowment Grant. Please review the guidelines below if you are interested in applying for the grant:
- Grant applications must be submitted by a Bethany Lutheran Church member or a Bethany Lutheran Church member sponsoring an organization or individual. Grant requests can also go to fund special programs or initiatives of Bethany minsitry.
- Grant applications will be accepted twice a year with submittal deadlines of February 15th and September 15th of each year. However, emergency grant applications can be submitted year-round.
- Emergency Definition - an unexpected situation that calls for immediate actions for an individual or organization in the community or church.
- The person submitting a request for funding must have significant knowledge of the proposed beneficiary's operation or need, or otherwise be substantially involved in the operation of the proposed recipient.
- Seminary scholarships for either Bethany members or non-members may be given if used for seminary education. In addition, scholarships for Bethany members may be granted for higher education.
- Scholarship limits per application per year:
- Higher education scholarship: up to $500
- Seminary scholarship: up to $1,000
- In all Categories, we should focus on personal and humanitarian needs. Financial support will not be considered for political organizations, political causes or indidivudal candidates for political office.
- The committee will consider prioritizing non-repeat over repeat grants (Excluding ELCA)
- Committee members will recuse themselves on any decisions related to applications submitted by or for a family member of their family.
- The BLC Losey Endowment committee shall, annually, review the above guidelines for intent or modifications at the first meeting of the committee in the new calendar year.
