BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH

Cornerstone of Faith Capital Campaign:

Strengthening Our Foundation, Building a Future

Like living stones, let yourself be built into a spiritual house…to proclaim the mighty works of God.”

1 Peter 2:5, 9

God has been at work through the faith community at Bethany Lutheran Church for over 144 years!  At this unique time in Bethany's life, the congregation needed to take significant steps for updating and repairing the building.  Bethany took on this campaign to strengthen our foundation so that we could build a future focused on mission and ministry.

Our biggest and most important project was a new heating and air conditioning system for our sanctuary (at a cost of $80,000.)  Other major projects include: a new elevator ladder, replacement of the handicap door, mold abatement and repairs in Sunday School rooms, new protective coverings for the stained glass windows, sanctuary entry tile replacement, and a list of smaller projects.  Some of these projects require a contractor, but many things have been accomplished through the work and talent of our church members.

We are celebrating the generosity of Bethany members!  Over the next three years, we have $121,137 gifted or pledged to this campaign.  Members have spent hours replacing lights, cleaning Sunday School rooms, painting handrails, repairing entryways, and coordinating projects.   There are still many steps and financial commitments ahead of us, and so we continue forward with faith that God can surprise us and do more than we can even imagine.

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.  In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.”

Ephesians 2:19-22
